Abingdon Feeder Cattle Association - Virginia Quality Assured (VQA) Sale

Event Begins: 3/30/20 6:00 PM (CDT)

Details

ATTENTION:

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO ABINGDON VQA SALES DATES

Due to market volatility, the Abingdon Feeder Cattle Association has elected to hold the VQA Sale on the same day as the take-up.  Please note the change in sale dates.

STEERS           Monday, March 30th at 7 pm

HEIFERS        Wednesday, April 1st at 7 pm

By selling VQA calves using this format, buyers will know exact head counts, selling weights, and breed makeup of each load. Cattle meet all Abingdon VQA requirements as cattle marketed by the group for the last 15 years.

Calves are predominantly Angus bred.  A typical load consists of 90% black and black-white face and 10% Charolais crosses (with no purebred Charolais included).  Charolais cross cattle are from Hereford and Angus. Three loads of one-owner cattle are available.

All of the calves are:

Weaned a minimum of 45 Days

        Feed and water trough broken

Backgrounded on hay, pasture and commodity mix.  None of the cattle are backgrounded on “feedlot-type” rations.

Vaccinated according to product label directions for 7-way Clostridials, Modified-live viruses (IBR, PI3, BRSV, BVD I & II) and Mannheimia haemolytica.  Calves also dewormed.

All VQA animals are identified using High Frequency RFID Ear Tags.  AFCA is excited to be the first Virginia Feeder Cattle Marketing group to participate in CattleTrace – the producer led animal traceability program.
